Snoopy raises the flag

It was July 20th, 2019, the 50th anniversary of the historic moon landing. I decided I was going to start and finish a painting on that very day to mark the occasion. My next thought was what? what will the painting be of?

I quickly decided on Snoopy. Snoopy would plant the flag and his best friend Woodstock would be right there with him.

After I verified the number of stars on the flag and if Woodstock had existed on that date. (I would have painted him in, even if he had not existed) I picked up a 30” x 40” canvas and sketched out our heroes and the flag on the moon’s surface trying to keep it as Schulz-ie as possible. Of course, Woodstock had to enter the scene as only Woodstock could. Luckily, cartoon characters obey their own laws of physics. On the T.V. behind me, a number of movies started and finished as I applied acrylic paint to canvas. With a few hours to spare, I completed the painting on that very day.
